Broadland residents can recycle unwanted small electrical items at a free community collection event being held in Lingwood next Monday.
Broadland residents are being encouraged to clear out unwanted small electrical items at a special recycling event in Lingwood.
Broadland District Council is holding the collection in partnership with Veolia at Lingwood Village Hall on Station Road.
The event will take place on Monday 19 October between 10am and 2pm.
Residents can bring unwanted small household electrical appliances including kettles, toasters, hairdryers, straighteners, irons, radios, games consoles, cameras, cables, chargers and small power tools.
Other suitable items include electric toothbrushes, tablets, clocks, DVD players, remote controls and Christmas lights.
Televisions and computer monitors will not be accepted at the event.
The council says recycling electrical equipment helps recover valuable materials which can be used again and prevents unwanted appliances from ending up in general waste.
The event is being held just days after International E-Waste Day, which aims to highlight the growing amount of discarded electrical and electronic equipment around the world.
Broadland District Council says many households have old or broken electrical items stored in cupboards and drawers and hopes the event will provide an easy way for residents to dispose of them responsibly.
The collection is open to Broadland residents and no booking is required.
