Former Norwich City striker Grant Holt will walk 93 miles from Cambridge to Norwich raising money for two regional charities.
Former Norwich City striker Grant Holt is preparing to take on a 93-mile charity walk across East Anglia.
The Canaries legend will join Tom Burkill and Mark Pollard from Superformula Group and Anglian Chemicals for The Big Walk.
The four-day challenge begins at East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Cambridge base in the early hours of Friday 9 October.
The three walkers will then cover 93 miles before reaching the charity’s Norwich base on Monday 12 October.
The specially designed route traces a giant letter C across the region in recognition of Big C Cancer Charity.
Money raised will be split between Big C and East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Big C provides free support, advice and wellbeing services for people affected by cancer across Norfolk, while the air ambulance delivers critical emergency medical care across the region.
Holt says cancer has affected his own family and that both organisations provide vital help to people facing difficult circumstances.
He is no stranger to long-distance fundraising challenges, having previously completed walks of 100 and 150 miles for charity.
The team hopes The Big Walk will raise both money and awareness for the two organisations, with businesses also able to sponsor sections of the route.
