A new six-day festival will celebrate Norwich’s rivers during half-term with free wildlife, music, storytelling, film and creative events citywide.
A new six-day festival celebrating Norwich’s rivers is being held during the October half-term.
Where the River Meets Us will run from Monday 26 October until Saturday 31 October, with a programme of free events at locations across the city.
Norwich City Council says the festival is designed to help people explore and better understand the waterways which have shaped the city’s history and environment.
Activities include wildlife walks, riverside photography, storytelling, films, talks, creative workshops and community events.
One of the highlights will be Folk on the Water, featuring Norwich duo Lassie performing beside the river while audiences follow along the riverbank.
Families will also be able to take part in interactive storytelling at Wensum Park, while wildlife experts will explore Norwich’s rare chalk rivers and the species they support.
Events will take place at locations including Wensum Park, City Hall and Sweet Briar Marshes.
The programme also provides opportunities for residents to share their views on the future of Norwich’s rivers and help shape the city’s developing river strategy.
All official festival activities are free, although some events may require advance booking because of limited capacity.
