Norfolk residents can dispose of household hazardous waste free at recycling centres during a series of special autumn events countywide.
Norfolk residents are being offered a series of opportunities to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste this autumn.
Norfolk County Council is holding special collection days at recycling centres across the county for materials which cannot normally be accepted through standard household waste services.
The first of the latest events will take place at Norwich South Recycling Centre on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October.
The site will be open for the event between 8am and 4pm on both days.
Residents can bring household hazardous materials including aerosols, antifreeze, drain cleaners, fertilisers, paint and weedkiller for safe disposal free of charge.
Advance booking is required and people without a valid slot may be turned away.
The events are intended for waste from individual households and are not available for businesses or other organisations.
Further events are scheduled at King’s Lynn Recycling Centre on 23 and 24 October and Thetford on 30 and 31 October.
The county council advises residents to keep chemicals in their original containers where possible, clearly label them and ensure containers are properly sealed during transportation.
The Household Hazardous Waste Days are designed to ensure potentially dangerous materials are treated and disposed of safely rather than placed in normal household bins.
