A court has heard a teenager accused of attempted murder messaged his mother saying “I’m sorry” after school stabbing incident.
The mother of a 16-year-old boy accused of attempting to murder a schoolgirl has told a court she received a message from him saying “I’m sorry” after the stabbing.
The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, is on trial at King’s Lynn Crown Court.
He is accused of attempting to murder a 15-year-old girl at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich on 11 March.
Jurors have previously heard that the girl was stabbed in the back during the incident.
Giving evidence, the defendant’s mother said her son had appeared normal when he left home for school that morning.
She later became aware through social media that there had been an incident at the school.
The court heard she subsequently received a message from her son saying “I’m sorry”.
She told jurors she was in shock when she realised he was involved.
The teenager denies attempted murder.
However, he has admitted wounding with intent and possessing a kitchen knife without lawful authority.
The prosecution alleges he intended to kill the girl, while the defence disputes that he had an intention to murder.
The trial at King’s Lynn Crown Court continues.
