Attleborough driver has been banned from driving for 18 months after a police pursuit reached speeds of 139mph in Norfolk.
An Attleborough man has been banned from driving for 18 months after reaching speeds of 139mph during a police pursuit.
Mason Sapsford-Howard, 20, of Bunwell Road, appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
The incident happened on the A11 at Thetford at around 9.25pm on 11 March.
Police first noticed a red Ford Fiesta being driven by Sapsford-Howard after it forced its way past a coach on a roundabout, narrowly avoiding a collision.
An officer activated blue lights and sirens, but Sapsford-Howard failed to stop and a pursuit followed, reaching speeds of 139mph.
Police said he repeatedly switched his vehicle lights on and off in an attempt to make himself less visible.
The pursuit was eventually abandoned after the car entered East Harling because officers considered his driving too dangerous for it to continue safely.
Sapsford-Howard was later identified and arrested on 19 March.
As well as an 18-month driving ban, he was ordered to complete 250 hours of unpaid work and a rehabilitation activity requirement. He was also ordered to pay £429 in fines and costs.
Norfolk Police said his actions could easily have resulted in serious injury or loss of life.
