Norwich Airport is temporarily closed to air traffic today as industrial action causes cancellations affecting some KLM and Loganair passengers.
Passengers using Norwich Airport are facing disruption today as ongoing industrial action forces a temporary closure to air traffic.
The airport is closed to aircraft movements between 8am and 1pm on Friday 21 August because of industrial action short of a strike involving air traffic control staff who are members of the Prospect union.
The action began on Monday 17 August as part of a dispute over pay and working conditions, with staff working strictly to their contracted hours and withdrawing additional flexibility.
Several flights have been affected by today’s closure.
KLM services between Norwich and Amsterdam have been cancelled during the affected period, while Loganair flights between Norwich and Aberdeen have also been disrupted.
Norwich Airport says airlines were informed about the five-hour closure in advance and other flights scheduled for later in the day are expected to operate as planned.
The airport has apologised to passengers for the inconvenience and says discussions with the union are continuing in an effort to resolve the dispute.
Anyone due to fly from Norwich today is being advised to check the latest status of their flight directly with their airline before travelling to the airport.
