A Norwich man has been jailed for 19 years after being convicted of a series of serious sexual offences against a young child.
Trevor New-Watts, 57, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court after being found guilty of eight offences following a nine-day trial.
The offences included two counts of rape of a child, four counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Norfolk Police launched an investigation in December 2022 after a relative of the victim contacted officers following disclosures made by the child.
Police said the offences took place between August 2021 and December 2022.
New-Watts was arrested as part of the investigation and electronic devices were seized from his home.
As well as the 19-year prison sentence, Norwich Crown Court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and an indefinite restraining order protecting the victim.
New-Watts will also remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Norfolk Police praised the bravery of the victim and their family in coming forward, saying the offending had caused significant and lasting trauma.
