Thetford Disorder Arrests Rise To 21

Police have now made 21 arrests following last week’s disorder in Thetford, with two more people detained on Wednesday evening.

The number of arrests made following last week’s disorder in Thetford has risen to 21, as Norfolk Police continues its investigation into the unrest.

Two more people were arrested on Wednesday evening, 12 August.

A man in his 50s was detained on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has since been released on bail until 26 September.

A teenage boy was also arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary. He was questioned by officers before being released on bail until 9 November.

The latest arrests bring the total number of people detained in connection with the disorder to 21.

The investigation follows several nights of unrest in Thetford last week, during which police dealt with protests and disorder in the town.

Officers have continued to review video footage and other evidence gathered during the disturbances, with a number of arrests made in the days since.

Norfolk Police says its investigation remains ongoing.
