Norfolk Riders Shine In British Final

Monday, 17 August 2026 17:09

Norwich-born Robert Lambert has won his third British speedway title as King’s Lynn teenager Cooper Rushen impressed on his debut.

It was a fantastic night for Norfolk speedway as Norwich-born Robert Lambert claimed his third British Championship while teenage star Cooper Rushen finished fourth on his debut.

Lambert dominated the British Final at Manchester’s National Speedway Stadium, winning all five of his qualifying races to record a perfect 15-point maximum before going on to win the final itself.

The victory gives the 28-year-old his third British title and his second in succession, further strengthening his position as one of the country’s leading speedway riders.

Lambert was born in Norwich and has strong connections with Norfolk speedway, having made his early senior breakthrough with the King’s Lynn Stars.

There was another big Norfolk success story in Manchester too.

Cooper Rushen, the 16-year-old King’s Lynn youngster and reigning British Under-21 champion, produced an impressive performance to reach the final on his first appearance at this level.

Rushen eventually finished fourth, behind Lambert, Charles Wright and Leon Flint – a remarkable result against some of Britain’s most experienced riders.

For Norfolk speedway fans, it meant two locally connected riders featuring in the top four of the British Championship – with an established star taking the title and one of the sport’s brightest young prospects announcing himself on the national stage.
