Youth Parliament Members Welcomed

Norfolk's newly elected Youth Parliament representatives have been officially welcomed as they begin two-year terms representing young people across the county.

Norfolk's newly elected Youth Parliament representatives have been officially welcomed at County Hall as they begin their two-year terms in office.

Four Members of Youth Parliament and four deputy members gathered in the council chamber for a formal inauguration ceremony, where they received certificates and delivered speeches outlining their ambitions for the years ahead.

The young representatives will act as the voice of their peers, working with decision-makers to raise issues affecting children and young people across the county.

Together, they represent communities across Norwich, Great Yarmouth, South Norfolk, North Norfolk, Broadland, West Norfolk and Breckland, ensuring young people from every part of Norfolk have a voice in discussions about local services and policies.

During the ceremony, each member spoke about the issues they hope to champion during their term, with topics including education, mental health, transport, opportunities for young people and tackling inequality.

The Youth Parliament gives young people the opportunity to influence local and national decision-making, while developing leadership, public speaking and campaigning skills.

The newly elected members will now begin working with Norfolk County Council and partner organisations over the next two years, representing the views and priorities of young people from across the county.
