Two August music events at Waxham Summer Camp have been approved after councillors rejected concerns over alleged disturbance and complaints.
Two music events planned for August at Waxham Summer Camp have been given the go-ahead after councillors approved a temporary event licence.
The application was considered by a licensing panel after a council officer raised concerns about complaints relating to previous events. Those concerns included allegations of excessive noise, intoxication and so-called "beach raves" taking place nearby.
Organisers strongly disputed the claims, telling the panel that they had worked hard to operate responsibly and that some of the incidents being referred to were either inaccurate or had taken place away from the campsite.
After considering the evidence, councillors concluded that much of the information presented was unverified and that some of the alleged activity may have occurred beyond the event site itself.
The panel decided there was not enough evidence to justify refusing permission and approved the two music events, subject to the agreed licensing conditions.
The decision means the events will be able to take place as planned during August, with organisers expected to continue working with local authorities to minimise any impact on nearby residents and the surrounding area.
