UEA Opens Auditions For Choirs And Orchestra

Tuesday, 25 August 2026 09:34

The University of East Anglia is inviting singers and musicians to audition for its choirs and symphony orchestra this September.

The University of East Anglia Music Centre is opening auditions for singers and musicians interested in joining its choirs and symphony orchestra.

Places are available in the UEA Choir, UEA Chamber Choir and UEA Symphony Orchestra, with opportunities open to students, university staff and members of the wider community.

Auditions are due to take place on Friday 18 September and Monday 21 September at the UEA Music Centre in Norwich.

The main UEA Choir welcomes singers with a range of experience, while the smaller Chamber Choir is aimed at those with previous choral experience and stronger sight-reading skills.

Musicians interested in the UEA Symphony Orchestra are expected to play at approximately Grade 7 or 8 standard, although applicants do not need to have formally taken those examinations.

The ensembles rehearse regularly during the university year and take part in concerts in Norwich and across the region.

More than 200 performers from the university and local community are expected to take part in the UEA Choir and Symphony Orchestra’s autumn concert at The Halls in Norwich in November.

Anyone interested in auditioning is being encouraged to contact the UEA Music Centre for further information and details of how to apply.
