Tributes have been paid to trainee paramedic Jess McKee, who died in a house fire in Thetford on Saturday morning.

Tributes have been paid to trainee paramedic Jess McKee, who died following a house fire in Thetford.

Emergency services were called to a property in Sycamore Covert during the early hours of Saturday 22 August.

Five people were inside the house when the fire broke out. Four managed to escape without injury, but Jess was found inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

Jess worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for the East of England Ambulance Service and was based in Suffolk.

She was studying to become a fully qualified paramedic and was due to complete her training in January.

East of England Ambulance Service chief executive Neill Moloney described Jess as a much-loved colleague who was known for her kindness, professionalism and dedication to patient care.

He said she had a bright future ahead of her and that her death had deeply affected colleagues across the ambulance service, with support being provided to those impacted.

Norfolk Police says Jess’s death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

Police and fire investigators have been working to establish the circumstances surrounding the blaze, with the cordon at the property now lifted.
