A new £4.1 million travel hub has been approved to encourage more sustainable journeys into King's Lynn.
Plans for a new £4.1 million travel hub on the edge of King's Lynn have been approved despite some concerns over how widely it will be used.
The Nar Ouse Way scheme will provide 236 car parking spaces, two bus stops and secure storage for up to 48 bicycles, creating a new interchange designed to encourage more sustainable travel into the town.
The hub is intended to make it easier for people to switch from their cars to public transport or cycling for the final part of their journey, helping to reduce congestion and improve air quality in King's Lynn.
During the planning meeting, some councillors questioned whether enough people would use the facility to justify the investment. However, supporters argued the scheme would play an important role in encouraging greener travel and supporting future growth in the area.
The plans were approved by nine votes to one, allowing the project to move forward.
The travel hub forms part of wider efforts to improve transport infrastructure around King's Lynn and provide residents and visitors with more options for travelling into the town while reducing reliance on private cars for every journey.
