Reports of sexual misconduct at the East of England Ambulance Service have doubled, with 25 staff dismissed following investigations.
Reports of misogyny and sexual misconduct at the East of England Ambulance Service have more than doubled year on year, according to the NHS trust's latest annual report.
The ambulance service, which covers Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, recorded 156 sexual safety cases between April 2024 and March 2026.
During the 2025/26 financial year, 25 employees were dismissed following sexual safety investigations, compared with just four during the previous year.
The report also reveals that ten employees resigned while investigations were ongoing, double the number recorded in 2024/25.
In total, 116 cases had been closed by the end of March 2026.
Despite the significant increase in reported incidents, the trust says the figures should not necessarily be interpreted as evidence that inappropriate behaviour is becoming more widespread.
Instead, managers believe the rise reflects improved awareness, greater confidence among employees to report concerns and more consistent recording of allegations.
The service says it has strengthened reporting procedures, introduced additional training and increased management oversight of sexual safety cases.
Senior leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards sexual harassment and misconduct.
The trust acknowledges that improving workplace culture remains a long-term challenge and says further work is needed to ensure staff feel safe, respected and supported.
