New figures reveal 120 suspected Blue Badge misuse cases in Norfolk, prompting calls for tougher enforcement to protect disabled motorists.
Campaigners are warning that the misuse of Blue Badges is making everyday life more difficult for disabled motorists across Norfolk.
New figures reveal that 120 people were reported for suspected misuse during the 2025/26 financial year, with ten cases resulting in prosecution.
Those taken to court were ordered to pay a combined £10,326 in fines and costs.
The figures, released in an annual report by Norfolk County Council's Blue Badge investigator, show that 529 suspected cases have been reported over the past five years.
During that period, 217 people received warnings and 129 Blue Badges were seized.
Graham Footer, chief executive of Disabled Motoring UK, says stronger enforcement is essential to ensure parking facilities remain available for people who genuinely need them.
He warned that misuse can be particularly problematic in car parks where regular inspections are not carried out.
Examples of abuse can include using a badge belonging to somebody else, displaying an expired permit or continuing to use a badge after its holder has died.
Norfolk County Council says it investigates reports of suspected misuse but considers prosecution a last resort, preferring warnings and other enforcement measures where appropriate.
The authority issues approximately 15,000 Blue Badges to residents each year.
Campaigners say protecting the scheme is essential to helping disabled people maintain their independence and access everyday services.
