The Queen has visited a Norfolk homelessness charity to meet women being supported as they rebuild their lives.
Queen Camilla toured AMORE, the women-only centre run by Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney at its Ditchingham site near Bungay.
The centre provides women who have experienced homelessness with a stable place to live alongside tailored support designed to help them move towards greater independence.
During her visit, The Queen met women living at the centre and heard about their experiences and the support they receive.
She also spoke to staff involved in running the service and learned more about the work being done to provide a safe and supportive environment for women who may have experienced homelessness and other significant challenges.
The visit also included the charity’s shop, where items made and created by residents are available for sale. The social enterprise element of the project gives residents opportunities to develop skills and confidence while contributing to the wider community.
Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney provides accommodation and support for people who have experienced homelessness, with its Ditchingham community offering residents a home alongside meaningful work and individual assistance.
The charity hopes The Queen’s visit will help raise awareness of its work and the importance of specialist services supporting women affected by homelessness.
