North Quay Plans Revised

Monday, 27 July 2026 17:43

Great Yarmouth's £100 million North Quay regeneration scheme has been updated following public feedback on the proposed development.

Plans for Great Yarmouth's £100 million North Quay regeneration project have been revised following concerns raised during public consultation.

Developers have confirmed that the proposed hotel and cinema buildings will be repositioned after feedback highlighted the importance of protecting views of the town's historic Minster and its setting.

The North Quay scheme aims to transform a prominent riverside site into a new destination featuring shops, restaurants, cafés, leisure facilities and improved public spaces, alongside the hotel and cinema.

Supporters believe the regeneration project could attract new investment, create jobs and encourage more visitors to the town centre, helping to strengthen Great Yarmouth's economy.

The changes follow a period of public consultation, during which residents, businesses and heritage groups were invited to comment on the proposals. The revised layout is intended to balance regeneration with preserving the character and heritage of the surrounding area.

A formal planning application is expected to be submitted within the coming weeks. It will then be considered by the local planning authority before any decision is made on whether the development can proceed.

If approved, the North Quay project would represent one of the largest regeneration schemes in Great Yarmouth in recent years, with the aim of creating a vibrant mixed-use destination for residents and visitors alike.
