Norfolk Strengthens Medical Links With Ukraine

Wednesday, 12 August 2026 20:24

Norfolk County Council has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine during a visit by senior medical figures from the Lviv region.

Norfolk County Council has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine during a visit by senior figures from Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University.

The delegation spent time with teams at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, met representatives from the University of East Anglia and was welcomed to County Hall by council leader David Bick.

The visit forms part of a three-year partnership between the Ukrainian university, NNUH and UEA, building on wider links established between Norfolk and the Lviv region.

The partnership focuses on clinical training, medical research and knowledge sharing. Ukrainian clinicians have already worked with Norfolk specialists in areas including urology, paediatrics, neurosciences, orthodontics and robotic surgery.

NNUH says the relationship is intended to support medical professionals working under extraordinary pressures in Ukraine while also allowing clinicians and researchers in Norfolk to learn from their Ukrainian counterparts.

Council leader David Bick said the collaboration is an important part of Norfolk's continuing support for the Lviv region and Ukraine.

The partnership also includes work on hospital management, rehabilitation, education and improving the quality of healthcare services in both regions.
