A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of murdering a fellow resident in Norwich.
A man has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years after being convicted of murdering a fellow resident at supported accommodation in Norwich.
Benjamin Katabana, 28, was found guilty of the murder of Ushena Okere, 33, at Summerleighton House in November last year.
During the trial, Katabana admitted responsibility for Mr Okere's death but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. The prosecution rejected that plea, and following the trial, a jury found him guilty of murder.
At Norwich Crown Court, Katabana was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 20 years before he can be considered for parole.
The court heard that the fatal attack took place at the shared accommodation where both men were living. Emergency services attended the scene, but Mr Okere died from his injuries.
Following the verdict, Norfolk Police welcomed the outcome and thanked everyone involved in the investigation. Detectives also paid tribute to witnesses who assisted the inquiry and expressed their condolences to Mr Okere's family.
The sentence concludes the criminal proceedings relating to the case.
