A Norwich man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent after a woman in her 60s suffered serious injuries.

A Norwich man has been charged after a woman in her 60s suffered serious injuries.

Alex Cuthbert, 30, of Gentry Place in Norwich, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

The charge follows an incident in which the woman sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment.

She remains in hospital receiving care.

Cuthbert was charged following a police investigation and is due to appear before magistrates today.

Grievous bodily harm with intent is an offence under Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and is among the most serious assault charges that can be brought in England and Wales.

Police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident or the nature of the relationship between those involved.

The investigation has resulted in formal court proceedings, meaning restrictions now apply to reporting that could prejudice the case.

The charge against Cuthbert remains an allegation, and he is entitled to a fair trial. He should not be considered guilty unless and until the offence is proven in court.

Further details may be released as the case progresses through the courts.
