The King and Queen have officially opened the first RHS Sandringham Flower Show during a visit to the Norfolk estate.
The King and Queen have officially opened the first RHS Sandringham Flower Show as the major horticultural event makes its debut at the Norfolk estate.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla toured the show, meeting gardeners, designers and exhibitors and viewing some of the displays created for the five-day event.
Their Majesties also presented awards, including recognition for a bee-themed garden created with the involvement of local schoolchildren.
The show is being held at Sandringham from 22 to 26 July after the Royal Horticultural Society was invited by The King, its patron, to stage an event at the Royal Family’s Norfolk estate.
Visitors can explore a range of horticultural displays, including the RHS Long Borders, which showcase different planting combinations and ideas that people can take inspiration from for their own gardens.
The event also features creations from the RHS Flower School, alongside specialist growers, exhibitors and opportunities to buy plants and gardening products.
The arrival of the RHS show marks a new chapter in Sandringham’s long association with major horticultural events.
Thousands of visitors are expected during the five days, making the inaugural RHS Sandringham Flower Show one of the biggest events in Norfolk’s summer calendar.
