Homes Damaged In Fire Near Diss

Monday, 10 August 2026 17:06

Two homes have suffered significant roof damage after a field fire spread to properties near Diss yesterday afternoon.

Two homes have suffered significant roof damage after a fire spread from a field to nearby properties in Kenninghall, near Diss.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service sent eight crews to the village yesterday afternoon as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further.

The fire is understood to have started in a field before spreading towards neighbouring homes. Two properties suffered significant damage to their roofs during the incident.

No injuries were reported.

Kenninghall Village Hall was opened to provide somewhere for residents affected by the fire to go while emergency crews dealt with the incident.

The blaze comes amid continued warnings about the increased risk of wildfires and outdoor fires across Norfolk following prolonged hot and dry weather.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has been urging people to avoid bonfires and take extra care with anything that could start a fire, with dry fields, grass and vegetation allowing flames to spread extremely quickly.

Crews remained at the scene to make the area safe and ensure there was no further spread of the fire.
