Cromer is set to appear on the big screen in a new feature film starring Maxine Peake and Gemma Jones.
The Bright Side Running Club is due to be filmed in Norfolk later this year, with cameras expected to roll in Cromer.
The film is an adaptation of Josie Lloyd’s novel The Cancer Ladies’ Running Club. It follows a woman whose life changes after a breast cancer diagnosis and who finds strength and support through a running club for people going through treatment.
The project is being directed by Sheree Folkson, whose previous work includes episodes of Bridgerton. International sales company Altitude launched the film to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival.
The production is also the first to receive support from Norfolk Screen’s regional incentive, delivered in partnership with Norfolk County Council and North Norfolk District Council.
North Norfolk District Council has agreed funding for the project, with hopes the exposure could boost tourism and showcase the area to a wider audience.
Norwich-based Epic Ev Studios will provide production services for the film.
