The Bishop of Thetford has called for unity following several nights of disorder linked to anti-immigration protests in the town.
The Right Reverend Ian Bishop described the recent unrest and intimidation as indefensible and urged people across the community to come together following the disturbances.
A special service of unity has been held at St Cuthbert's Church, providing an opportunity for residents and community representatives to gather following the events of recent days.
The disorder began last week amid protests relating to asylum seekers being accommodated in properties in Thetford. Police were deployed after attempts were made to enter some homes, with a number of people subsequently moved for their own safety.
Several arrests have been made during the policing operation, and two officers were injured during disorder on Wednesday evening.
Norfolk Police has maintained an increased presence in the town, with additional powers allowing officers to disperse people where necessary to prevent further disorder.
Those measures are currently due to remain in place until Tuesday afternoon, while officers continue to monitor the situation.
The Bishop says the focus now needs to be on bringing people together and rebuilding a sense of safety and community across Thetford.
