Arrests Rise To 15 After Thetford Disorder

Tuesday, 11 August 2026 08:40

Two more arrests have been made following disorder in Thetford, taking the total number detained by police to 15.

Two more people have been arrested following last week's disorder in Thetford, bringing the total number of arrests to 15.

Norfolk Police says the latest arrests are part of its continuing investigation into unrest linked to anti-immigration protests in the town.

A man in his 20s remains in police custody while enquiries continue. A teenage boy who was also arrested has since been released on bail.

The arrests follow several nights of disorder in Thetford last week, during which police were deployed to deal with protests and disturbances. Attempts were made to enter some properties housing asylum seekers, with a number of people subsequently moved from their accommodation for their own safety.

Two police officers were also injured during the disorder.

Norfolk Police continues to maintain an increased presence in Thetford, with extra patrols providing reassurance and responding to any further incidents.

Additional dispersal powers remain in force until 4pm today, allowing officers to direct people to leave designated areas where necessary to prevent crime or disorder.

Investigations into the events are continuing, with police reviewing evidence and appealing for anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward.
