Apprenticeship Scheme Extended Until 2028

A scheme helping people into apprenticeships across Broadland and South Norfolk is being extended until 2028 following its successful introduction.

A scheme which has helped almost 100 people start apprenticeships across Broadland and South Norfolk is being extended until 2028.

The Building Futures programme works with local businesses to remove some of the barriers which can prevent smaller employers from recruiting and training apprentices.

Businesses taking part receive free specialist advice and support, including help identifying suitable apprenticeship programmes, recruiting candidates and providing mentoring once an apprentice starts work.

The project is delivered in partnership with Apprenticeships Norfolk and was originally funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

Financial incentives have also been available to employers, with additional support offered for apprenticeships which contribute directly towards environmental and net-zero goals.

Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council have now agreed to provide funding to keep the programme running after the previous government-backed funding came to an end.

The councils say apprenticeships can give local people valuable skills and career opportunities while helping businesses recruit and develop the workforce they need.

Building Futures has worked with businesses across a wide range of industries since its launch.

The extension means employers in Broadland and South Norfolk will continue to have access to specialist apprenticeship support through to 2028.
