Three Teenagers Deny Arson Charges Following Norwich Nightclub Fire

Friday, 30 October 2026 at 08:29

Three teenage boys deny arson charges following April's fire at Norwich's Talk nightclub, with further court proceedings expected in November.

Three teenage boys have denied arson charges following a fire at the former Talk nightclub in Norwich earlier this year.

The teenagers appeared before Norwich Youth Court on Thursday 29 October, where all three entered not guilty pleas.

The charges relate to a blaze at the former nightclub on Oak Street on Thursday 2 April 2026.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to the building at approximately 7.30pm after reports of a fire, with thick smoke seen rising from the roof.

Seven fire engines from stations across Norfolk attended the incident as crews worked to bring the flames under control.

Residents living nearby were advised to keep their windows and doors closed because of the smoke, while emergency services asked motorists to avoid the area.

The fire was brought under control later that evening, with the building suffering significant damage.

The Talk was once a popular Norwich entertainment venue, having opened in 1954 and hosted performances by major artists including The Who and Rod Stewart.

The nightclub closed in 2022, and the building has remained unused since then.

Following the teenagers' court appearances, prosecutors will review the charges before the next hearing in November.

The defendants cannot be identified because of their age, and proceedings remain ongoing.
