Norfolk GP Surgery Websites Disrupted After Technology Provider Collapses

Friday, 30 October 2026 at 08:12

Several Norfolk GP surgeries are experiencing website outages after provider Silicon Practice entered administration, leaving patients relying on telephone contact.

A number of GP surgeries across Norfolk have been left without functioning websites after the company providing their online services went into administration.

Silicon Practice, which supplies websites and related digital services to GP practices across England and Wales, has been affected by financial difficulties, leaving surgeries searching for alternative providers.

Among the Norfolk practices affected are Norwich Health Centre, Hellesdon Medical Practice, Millwood Medical Practice in Great Yarmouth and School Lane Surgery and Pharmacy in Thetford.

Patients attempting to access some practice websites have encountered error messages, making it more difficult to find information or use online contact forms.

School Lane Surgery says its telephone lines are busier than usual as staff work to secure a replacement website host and online form provider.

The practice has apologised for the inconvenience and warned that restoring services may take time, particularly as many other surgeries across the country are also seeking alternatives.

NHS England says fewer than ten per cent of the country's more than 6,000 GP practices have been affected by the disruption.

The health service has contacted affected practices to help minimise the impact on patients and emphasised that most GP websites remain operational.

Patients who cannot access their surgery's website are being advised to contact the practice by telephone or visit in person if they require assistance.

No confirmed restoration date has been announced for the affected websites.
