Nearly 500 Speeding Offences Recorded Across Norwich in September

Wednesday, 28 October 2026 at 07:36

Nearly five hundred speeding offences were recorded by Norwich fixed cameras in September, with Mile End Road topping the figures.

Almost 500 speeding offences were recorded by fixed safety cameras across Norwich during September, according to the latest figures released by Norfolk Police.

The data shows that cameras detected 479 speeding offences throughout the city during the month, highlighting the continued problem of motorists exceeding posted speed limits.

Mile End Road recorded the highest number of offences, with 99 motorists caught speeding.

Dereham Road was the second busiest location, with 76 recorded offences, followed closely by Colman Road, where cameras detected 74.

Together, the three locations accounted for more than half of all speeding offences recorded by Norwich's fixed cameras during September.

The figures underline the importance of speed enforcement on busy roads used by commuters, pedestrians and cyclists.

Safety cameras are designed to encourage drivers to observe speed limits and reduce the risk of serious collisions.

Excessive speed can significantly increase both the likelihood of a collision and the severity of injuries when accidents occur.

Motorists caught speeding may face a fixed penalty, penalty points or prosecution, depending on the circumstances and seriousness of the offence.

Norfolk Police continues to use fixed and mobile enforcement cameras as part of its wider road safety work across the county.

Drivers are being reminded to pay attention to changing speed limits and adjust their speed to suit road and traffic conditions.

The latest figures provide a snapshot of speeding detected during September and demonstrate the continuing challenges of improving road safety in Norwich.
