Norwich Theatre Royal has cancelled Saturday's evening performance of Sylvia because of cast illness, with affected ticket holders offered refunds.
Norwich Theatre Royal has apologised after cancelling a performance of the musical Sylvia at short notice because of illness among members of the cast.
The production had been due to take place at 7.30pm on Saturday 31 October, but the cancellation was announced less than an hour before the theatre was scheduled to open its doors.
The late announcement left ticket holders facing disappointment, with some already preparing to travel into Norwich for the evening performance.
The theatre confirmed that cast illness had made it impossible for the production to go ahead as planned.
Sylvia is a musical telling the story of suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst and her involvement in the campaign for women's voting rights.
The production combines contemporary music, dance, hip-hop, funk and soul to explore the life of one of the most influential figures in the women's suffrage movement.
The Norwich performances formed part of a wider UK tour, following the show's previous success and recognition at the Olivier Awards.
The theatre has apologised to affected audience members for the inconvenience caused by the last-minute cancellation.
Its box office team is expected to contact ticket holders during the week beginning Monday 2 November to arrange refunds.
Under Norwich Theatre's cancellation policy, customers are entitled to a refund of the face value of their tickets when a performance cannot take place.
Anyone with questions about their booking can contact the Norwich Theatre box office on 01603 630000.
