Grants Available For Norfolk Market Towns

Friday, 24 July 2026 17:06

Market towns across Norfolk can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to support projects attracting visitors and boosting trade.

Market towns across Norfolk are being invited to apply for grants of up to £5,000 to help attract more visitors and support local businesses.

The funding is available through Norfolk County Council’s Love Your Market Town scheme, which aims to encourage projects that increase footfall, strengthen local economies and celebrate each town’s unique character.

Community groups, town councils, business organisations and other eligible applicants can bid for support to develop a wide range of initiatives. These include festivals, themed events, heritage trails, public art, promotional campaigns and improvements to town centre spaces.

Previous projects supported by the scheme include the Thomas Paine Trail in Thetford, which celebrates the town’s connection with the influential political writer, and a heritage display in Diss highlighting the area’s history.

The council hopes the grants will encourage more people to visit Norfolk’s market towns, helping local shops, cafés, attractions and independent businesses.

Applications for this round of funding will close on 31 August, after which successful projects will be announced.

Further information, including eligibility criteria and application guidance, is available from Norfolk County Council for organisations interested in applying before the deadline.
