A Norwich man has been charged with multiple shop theft offences following incidents across Norwich and Costessey.
A Norwich man has been charged with 14 offences following a series of alleged shop thefts across Norwich and Costessey.
Ben Wells, 47, of Brackendale, Norwich, has been charged with 10 counts of theft, three counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order and one count of attempted theft.
The charges relate to a number of alleged incidents at retail premises in Norwich and Costessey. Norfolk Police say the offences were investigated as part of ongoing work to tackle shoplifting and support businesses affected by repeat offenders.
Wells appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court, where he was remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance.
A Criminal Behaviour Order is designed to prevent persistent offenders from engaging in behaviour linked to previous convictions. Breaching the conditions of such an order is a criminal offence and can result in further prosecution.
Norfolk Police continue to work closely with retailers across the county to reduce shop theft and identify prolific offenders. Officers encourage businesses to report every incident, saying CCTV, witness statements and shared intelligence play a vital role in bringing offenders before the courts.
As criminal proceedings are now under way, the charges against Wells remain allegations until proven in court.
