Norfolk County Council has appointed Kat Hullett as interim chief executive while recruitment continues for a permanent replacement.
Norfolk County Council has appointed Kat Hullett as its interim chief executive while it continues the search for a permanent successor.
Ms Hullett, who is currently the council's Director of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer, will take on the role on an interim basis to provide continuity of leadership during the recruitment process. The council has already begun advertising for a permanent chief executive.
Council Leader David Bick said he is confident Ms Hullett has the experience and knowledge needed to guide the authority during the transition. He said her appointment will help ensure the council continues to deliver its priorities and maintain momentum on key projects while the recruitment process is completed.
As Monitoring Officer, Ms Hullett has been responsible for overseeing the council's legal governance and ensuring decision-making is carried out lawfully. Her appointment means she will now take on responsibility for leading one of the country's largest county councils until a permanent chief executive is appointed.
Recruitment for the permanent post is continuing, with the council seeking a long-term leader to oversee public services, transformation programmes and the authority's future strategic direction.
