A Norfolk training provider has cancelled several full-time courses weeks before term, leaving 25 students searching for alternative placements elsewhere.
A Norfolk training provider has been criticised after cancelling several courses just six weeks before students were due to begin the new academic year.
Poultec Training, based in Mattishall near Dereham, has withdrawn study programmes including hairdressing and motor vehicle courses as it shifts its focus towards apprenticeships and employer-led training.
Around 25 young people are understood to be affected by the decision and must now find alternative education or training places before September.
Some parents have expressed frustration at the timing, warning that courses at other colleges may already be full or have limited availability after applications were made months ago.
Poultec says the decision followed a review of its provision and reflects a move towards concentrating resources on apprenticeship programmes, which combine workplace employment with formal training.
The provider says it is supporting affected students to explore alternative options.
Poultec has operated in Norfolk since 1997 and provides apprenticeship and vocational training across a range of industries, including hairdressing, engineering, hospitality and healthcare.
Families affected by the cancellations are now seeking replacement courses before the start of the new term, with concerns that the late notice could leave some students without their preferred training route.
