Nationwide Boots Thief Jailed For 30 Months

Friday, 18 September 2026 16:06

A nationwide shoplifter has been jailed for 30 months after stealing almost £55,000 worth of goods from Boots stores.

A man who stole almost £55,000 worth of goods from Boots stores across the country has been jailed for 30 months.

Marius Cazacu, 52, of Colindale Avenue in London, appeared at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court on 11 September after admitting 11 high-value shop theft offences.

Further investigations by Norfolk Police linked him to another 23 thefts across nine police force areas, which were taken into consideration by the court.

The offending took place between 2024 and 2026 and included a theft from a Boots store in Great Yarmouth on 31 May 2024.

The 34 offences involved goods worth almost £55,000 in total.

As well as being jailed for two-and-a-half years, Cazacu has been banned from entering every Boots store in England and Wales for four years.

Norfolk Police’s Operation Converter team worked with other forces and retailers to identify offences committed across the country and build the case against him.

Police say the investigation demonstrates the impact of partnership working in tackling organised and persistent retail crime.

Officers say they will continue pursuing offenders whose crimes have links to Norfolk, even when much of their offending takes place elsewhere.
