Campaigners opposing a major solar farm in South Norfolk say they feel powerless and ignored as public hearings into the proposals get under way.
The East Pye Solar development would cover around 2,700 acres of land near Long Stratton, including areas around Hempnall, Great Moulton and Saxlingham Nethergate.
More than 60 people registered to speak during the first open-floor hearings at Dunston Hall this week, including residents, campaigners, MPs and local councillors.
Opponents raised concerns about the scale of the scheme, its effect on agricultural land and the impact on the rural landscape.
Some residents told the Planning Inspectorate they felt local communities had little influence over a project ultimately decided at national level.
Developer Island Green Power says the 500-megawatt scheme could generate enough electricity to supply the equivalent of around 115,000 homes.
The company says solar energy will contribute to national renewable-energy and net-zero targets while providing investment and economic benefits.
Because of its size, East Pye is classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.
The examination can run for six months, with further hearings planned later this year.
Once it concludes, the Examining Authority will make a recommendation to the government before a final decision is taken.
