The Pink Ladies’ Tractor Road Run has raised £129,000 for Cancer Research UK, taking its 22-year total near £1.5 million.
An annual tractor run across south Norfolk and north Suffolk has raised £129,000 for Cancer Research UK.
A total of 182 women took part in the 22nd Pink Ladies’ Tractor Road Run in July, driving decorated tractors along a 20-mile route through the Waveney Valley.
The colourful convoy travelled through communities including Thorpe Abbotts, Brockdish, Harleston, Pulham St Mary and Rushall, with thousands of people lining the route to support the drivers.
The event raises money for Cancer Research UK’s breast cancer research and has become one of the region’s best-known annual charity fundraisers.
Organisers say this year’s £129,000 total takes the amount raised since the first tractor run in 2004 to around £1.48 million.
That leaves the event close to reaching the landmark £1.5 million figure.
The tractor run was originally organised by Annie Chapman as a one-off fundraising event, with around 50 tractors taking part in its first year.
It has since grown into a major annual event attracting participants and spectators from across Norfolk, Suffolk and further afield.
Organisers have thanked the drivers, volunteers, businesses and communities along the route for their continued support.
