New Bus Services Launch Around Swaffham

Thursday, 3 September 2026 12:03

New bus routes have launched around Swaffham, including a direct link to Downham Market and fixed services replacing Flexibus.

New and revised bus services have launched around Swaffham, including a direct connection to Downham Market.

The new Route 67 is being operated by Central Connect and links Swaffham with Downham Market via Narborough, Marham, RAF Marham, Fincham and Crimplesham.

It also serves Downham Market railway station, giving passengers connections with rail services, while people travelling through Swaffham can link with First Bus Excel services towards Norwich and Peterborough.

At the same time, new fixed-timetable services have replaced the previous demand-responsive Swaffham Flexibus network and Swaffham Town service.

Coach Services is operating the new S8, S9, S10 and S10A routes.

Unlike Flexibus, passengers no longer need to book journeys in advance using an app, with buses instead following set routes and timetables.

The S8 and S10 continue to serve most villages previously covered by Flexibus, while the S9 provides a circular service around Swaffham. The S10A operates as a dedicated school service.

Norfolk County Council says the changes are designed to make rural public transport simpler and more reliable while maintaining important links between villages and key destinations.

The services are being supported through Department for Transport Bus Grant funding.
