Gold coin discovered from the Viking Great Army

A rare gold coin pennant, believed to have been lost by a soldier in the Viking Great Army, has been found in a Norfolk field.

The imitation of a 9th century coin was discovered by a metal detectress near Durham last September.

Experts say it was likely brought to England by Viking invaders and is now going through the treasure process.

Norwich Castle Museum hopes to acquire the find.
