A new stretch of the A47 in Norfolk opened late this morning after last-minute work delays.
The road between Blofield and North Burlingham was meant to open at 6 but didn't fully open until 6.38am.
Drivers did report long queues while residents said lorries diverted onto smaller roads.
National Highways has since apologised and said weekend weather delayed final surfacing work.
Around 30,000 vehicles use the route every day.
