VJ day marked at Norwich Cathedral 80 years on

80 years on VJ Day was marked with hundreds of people gathering at Norwich Cathedral to remember those who served.

The Dean of Norwich, the Very Rev Andrew Braddock, said ahead of the service it would be about "the human cost and our common humanity". He went on to say "We've been planning this for the best part of two years; it's a significant occasion for us to commemorate and remember those who served in the forces, prisoners of war and the sacrifices they made."

Members of the military and relatives of those who were caught up in the conflict were also joined by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Many of those who suffered in the prisoner of war camps were in regiments from East Anglia. Victory was finally declared over Japan on 15 August 1945.

A two minute silence was observed at midday to remember those who were caught up in the conflict.
