Crews attend forest fire in Thetford forest near Elveden

Fire crews have been called to a large forest fire this afternoon close to the A11 on the Norfolk, Suffolk border.

Just after 2pm on Monday 11th August, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service dispatched four fire fighting appliances to the scene and a water carrier to Thetford Forest, just near the county border.

Officials have said the fire covered an area equivalent to two football pitches, near the villages of Elveden and North Stow, which is just a short distance from the busy A11.

After a couple of hours at the scene, Suffolk Fire Service said the blaze had been "successfully sectorised".

Traffic on the A11 was not affected by the incident.
