Charges after items stolen from car in Thetford

A man’s been charged with stealing items from a car in Thetford.

Officers were called to an address in Cloverfields in the town at 3am on Monday 15 September 2025 to reports of a theft in progress. When they arrived a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of theft and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

Subsequently, Jason Harvey, 32 of Oak Close, Saxmundham, Suffolk has been charged with one count of entering a garage as a trespasser, one count of stealing items from a car elsewhere in Cloverfields, one count of assault by beating and one count of assaulting an emergency worker.

He was remanded in custody by police to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court today (16 September 2025).  The courts have bailed him, with conditions, to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on 27 October 2025.
