Appeal following fail to stop collision in Great Yarmouth

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail to stop collision in Great Yarmouth.

It happened on Nelson Road Central (near the junction with Bath Hill Terrace) at 11 pm on Friday 8 August 2025 when a black Ford Puma collided with a pedestrian.

The driver of the car initially stopped and got out of the vehicle but then returned to the car and drove off.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.

A man in his 20s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, causing serious injury by careless driving, driving without a licence or insurance and drug driving. He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning and released on bail until 11th September 2025.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of the car beforehand.
