Protests over sewage pollution in local waters

Protesters concerned about sewage pollution have staged paddle-out demonstrations across the east of England.

Surfers Against Sewage held events at five locations, including beaches in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Campaigners say sewage is still being discharged into rivers and seas, sometimes even in dry weather.

Anglian Water says most designated bathing waters in the region are rated good or excellent, but protesters say action must happen much sooner to protect local waterways.
